Our food industry client has an immediate requirement for a Maintenance Manager for its Calgary, Alberta plant.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
Reporting to the Plant Manager this position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance functions for the plant equipment and building. This role includes supervision of the maintenance employees, manage and control the budget and expenditures, minimize production downtime, ensure safe and efficient operations, and maintain the life of the equipment and the building.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operations • Oversee the Repair and Maintenance of all Production and Building Equipment • Plan, coordinate, and direct the maintenance employees to ensure that the following goals of the department are achieved to plant and corporate standards: • Maintenance team actively participates in and pursues solutions for reducing downtime • Prompt line response times to facilitate production schedules • Troubleshooting and repairs to down equipment • Regular walk throughs on each shift • Ongoing and effective communication with Line Supervisors and Plant Superintendent • Assist with changes and set-ups to equipment as required • Completion of all required documentation • Able to perform plant start-up and shut down • Effectively reduce downtime • Develop the maintenance team to focus and participate in improvement of plant processes
2. Budgeting and Expenses • Control and manage the maintenance budget to meet the plant objectives
3. Knowledge, Understanding, and Respect for all Industry Standards and Company Policies and Procedures • Ensure the department adheres to all internal programs and regulations including Safety, HACCP, GMP’s, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
4. Human Resources • Participate in hiring and training maintenance employees • Schedule and approve maintenance vacation schedule for proper coverage
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3 – 5 years experience in a food processing and production environment • Licensed Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal • Practical knowledge and understanding of Capital Expenditures and Return on Investments (ROI) • Experience with Safety, QA, HACCP, & GMP programs • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings • Experience an asset with grinders, mixers, conveyors, waste water, PLC’s, HVAC, Ammonia, refrigeration, Air make up systems. Journeyman Electrician - ideally with production experience in food manufacturing environment
