Plant Manager - POSITION FILLED

Our client is a leading manufacturer of value added custom and branded food products. The company is currently recruiting a Plant Manager for its Edmonton Plant.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations Canada, the Plant Manager functions as an integral member of the Senior Management Team and shares the responsibility for establishing and maintaining a professional working environment that is committed to safety, quality, customer service, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsible for the overall effective operation of the Edmonton Plant, the Plant Manager is directly accountable for ensuring that products meet or exceed the standards set for quality, cost, productivity and customer service.

Responsibilities:
• Provides functional direction & leadership to all operating departments in the plant through the setting and management of appropriate performance objectives. Objectives are focused on safety, quality, service and cost improvement
• Provides operational support and leadership in the commercialization of new products and onboarding of new business
• Ensures product and packaging quality and efficiencies meet or exceed standards
• Manages production sequence, utilization of equipment, staffing levels, product costs, product run times, line efficiencies and operational capacity
• Works collaboratively with various support teams and functions with the overall aim of meeting customer expectations and business objectives
• Works to develop and enhance positive employee relations with the aim of increasing overall employee engagement
• Facilitates regular meetings and updates to ensure the accurate and timely flow of information as required by R&D, QC, and Engineering Departments
• Ensures compliance with all applicable legislation and codes in all areas of the plant including WSIB, HACCP, WHMIS, & Workplace H&S
• Negotiates and maintains supplier contracts with vendors and contractors including rates, service level specifications, contracted deliverables and conflict resolutions protocols
• Assists and supports the R&D, QC, Maintenance/Engineering and Production Department Managers to troubleshoot and resolve problems in their area as required

Qualifications/Experience:
• A minimum of 5 – 7 years management experience
• Previous experience in a similar industry or organization is essential
• Some post secondary education or professional development courses
• A proven track record of effective development, communication and implementation of complex strategies for products, processes, people and policy
• A demonstrated ability to effectively solve both technical & logistic problems
• Strong, flexible, hands on and results oriented management experience
• Ability to make and sustain excellent interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization and across cultural and ethnic diversity
• Strong written, verbal and computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed the physical requirements of the facility’s working conditions.
