Our client is a successful and growing food processing company. The company manufactures gluten-free whole grain oat products. The company has an immediate requirement to hire a Production Manager for its processing plant in Saskatchewan.
The Production Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the milling and packaging departments including yield, labor efficiencies, and managing the workforce to ensure all safety and business objectives are met. The successful candidate will be accountable for the following;
- Managing operations to produce the highest quality products in the most effective and efficient manner, within company policy and government regulations - Schedule and manage daily production within the milling and packaging departments - Inspire, engage and lead all employees through coaching and mentoring - Build and maintain an engaged workforce - Review, monitor and follow-up on department results - Continuously improve results using team engagement and innovation - Drive the integration of Lean Manufacturing in operational functions - Ensure product quality specifications are met - Ensure that all food safety and HACCP protocols are met within the department - Provide review and analysis of standard costing for finished product, labour efficiency and yield - Monitor daily production inventories for product rotation and proper supply of raw materials to production - Communicate effectively with all members of the senior management team - Other management duties as assigned
- Previous management experience in a food processing or agricultural processing business - Previous milling experience is a definite asset - Experience managing within an Operations / Production Management role - Demonstrated experience in leading a safe workplace - Demonstrated experience and knowledge in food safety and HACCP - Ability to meet production demands and multitask to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment - Knowledge of product costing - Ability to apply financial analysis techniques to identify, trouble shoot, correct problems and determine overall efficiency, yields and rates - Proven leadership, analytical and decision-making abilities - Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels - Strong computer skills - Good mechanical aptitude
