Our client is a successful and growing food processing company. The company manufactures and sells gluten-free whole grain oat products to food manufacturers specializing in the gluten-free and celiac markets. In addition, the company manufactures and markets a full line of retail ready products. The company has an immediate requirement to hire a Quality Assurance Manager for its Regina processing plant.
Responsibilities: Manage the Quality Assurance department and provide strong leadership and direction to the food safety and quality policy and procedures. Work with the Quality Assurance personnel to execute all required product tests accurately and efficiently. Work in partnership with the Plant Operations Director to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of all quality control processes and programs (GMP, HACCP, others). Manage customer quality assurance relationships, assess customer requirements, establish customer service standards and ensure service standards are met with each shipment. Ensure manufacturing processes are in compliance with national and international standards. Work with operating staff to establish procedures, standards, and systems that are well designed and executed. Lead the food safety training program. Write management/technical reports and customer charters as required. Oversee the quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers. Ensure Business Plans are effectively implemented and strive for continuous process improvement, as well as ensuring financial and operational objectives are attained. Provide leadership and support in nurturing a corporate culture which encourages teamwork, safety performance, personal responsibility and creativity. Work with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop annual goals, objectives, and budgets for approval, execution and follow up. Maintain facility certifications: FSSC22000, Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, GFCO. Strong problem solving, decision making skills. Possess mechanical aptitude. Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality. Oversee the recording, analysis and distribution of quality information. Prepare work schedule for staff. Recruit, hire and train Quality Assurance staff. Conduct employee performance reviews.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Food Science or related discipline. 5 - 10 years experience in progressively senior Quality Assurance and Food Safety roles in a Food or Grain processing environment.
