Customer Business Development Manager - POSITION FILLED

Our food industry client is a leading manufacturer of consumer products. The company is currently recruiting a Customer Business Development Manager. The position is based in Calgary, Alberta.

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and strengthening customer relationships, managing and growing business, and providing category management knowledge and expertise to customers.

Position Responsibilities:
• Understand customer’s strategy and build strong relationships with customer to manage or exceed customer expectations and create customer and consumer value
• Develop and maximize performance objectives such as sales volume, contribution, trade spending, promotional plans, business development plans, market penetration and GP targets for specific categories
• Manage complete sales process from customer relationship management, price negotiations, sales planning etc.
• Negotiate and arrange pricing agreements with customer in support of team objectives and in coordination with marketing and management
• Demonstrate strong knowledge and expertise in products and category management
• Recognize total cost reduction opportunities, presenting the customer with solutions and quantifying results
• Make decisions on customer issues
• Regular and frequent contact with customers and internal staff in marketing, category management, finance, and supply chain
• Local travel required on a regular weekly basis and some overnight travel might be required

Required Experience and Education:
• 3-5 years account management sales experience
• University Degree – Business education preferred
• 3-5 years of food industry sales experience

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Self-management and organizational skills
• Creative thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to “think on one’s feet” and make decisions independently in a fast paced environment
• Focused on value-added selling
• Leadership and emotional maturity
• Valid drivers license
• Proficiency computer skill
• Category Management expertise
• Negotiation skills
• Adaptable / change agent
