Our client is a successful and growing oat processing company. The company has an immediate requirement to hire a Head Miller for its Regina processing plant.
The Head Miller is responsible for the overall operation of the milling department including yield, labor efficiencies, and managing the workforce to ensure all safety and business objectives are met. The successful candidate will be accountable for the following;
- Schedule and manage daily production within the milling department - Inspire, engage and lead milling department employees through coaching and mentoring - Build and maintain an engaged workforce - Provide ongoing training and development - Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures - Review, monitor and follow-up on department results - Continuously improve results using team engagement and innovation - Drive the integration of Lean Manufacturing in operational functions - Ensure product quality specifications are met - Ensure that all food safety and HACCP protocols are met within the department - Provide review and analysis of standard costing for finished product, labour efficiency and yield - Monitor daily production inventories for product rotation and proper supply of raw materials to production - Communicate effectively with all members of the senior management team - Other management duties as assigned
- A minimum of five years direct milling experience - Experience managing within an Operations role - Demonstrated experience in leading a safe workplace - Demonstrated experience and knowledge in food safety and HAACP - Ability to meet production demands and multitask to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment - Knowledge of product costing - Ability to apply financial analysis techniques to identify, trouble shoot, and correct problems and determine overall efficiency, yields and rates - Proven leadership, analytical and decision-making abilities - Demonstrated experience in successfully training and mentoring employees - Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels - Strong computer skills - Good mechanical aptitude
