Our Alberta based client currently requires a Vice-President of Operations. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice-President of Operations will assume responsibility for operations, profitability and coordination of the companys operating plants, distribution warehouse and supply chain management.
Essential Job Responsibilities Provides day-to-day leadership and supervision of operational personnel. Functions as an effective member of the company's leadership team in supporting and advancing the company's mission and values through leading by example. Leads the establishment, implementation and adherence to employee health and safety, customer service, food safety and quality processes and standards. Provides direction in the development of strategic plans and initiatives, financial budgets and forecasts, and operational and distribution plans. Leads the development of production plans and schedules required to meet agreed-to production targets. Ensures proper ingredient procurement plans and contingency plans are in place and followed. Directs the development and/or procurement of appropriate product lines and services including supply agreements and plans, production quality and costs. In collaboration with other departments develops the multi-year and annual capital plan and implements the plan using the Approval For Expenditure (AFE) process. Provides input into the development of sales and marketing plans. Develops key metrics for managing and reporting operational performance. Analyzes financial and operational results and takes appropriate corrective action when needed. Oversees the accurate and timely management and reporting of inventory levels for ingredients, supplies and finished product. Provides leadership in achieving profit objectives through effective utilization of resources and expense/cost management. Ensures that appropriate internal systems, policies, procedures and controls are in place to assure efficient and cost effective operations. Assures clear and timely communications within the organization and with relevant personnel in the corporation. Provides support, and assistance to other functions, such as Research and Development and Marketing and Sales when required.
Requirements Requires proven expertise in plant/operational management supplemented by a university degree, plus 10-15 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity. Proven leadership skills, including imparting vision and values, supervision, employee development, and teambuilding. Demonstrated professional communication, interpersonal, persuasion and presentation skills at a high level in the organization. Proven organization and planning skills including strategic thinking and planning. Demonstrated problem solving skills including problem analysis, evaluation and implementation of solutions. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license to travel as necessary to perform the duties of the position and be able to work hours beyond those considered normal.
