Our food industry client is currently recruiting a Human Resources Manager for its food processing operation in Edmonton.
The Human Resources Manager will provide Human Resources and Labour Relations services and advisory services to the business.
• Manage the Human Resource function to ensure effective management and continual improvement of plant operations. • Co-ordinate and assist in Human Resource initiatives, including Performance Management, collective agreement bargaining/negotiations and administration, grievance management and administration and hourly attendance/progressive discipline management. • Provides direction and support to staff in such areas as workplace policy, payroll, benefits, recruiting, compensation, employee legislation, staffing, current and new systems. • Coaching, developing, and executing top grading/muscle building initiatives. • Work with management to identify recruitment needs and play an active role in the selection process. • Actively engaging peers and managers in daily issues and problem resolution in support of business needs. • Coach managers in the clarification and development of performance expectations. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of all HR processes and ensure consistent application of the same. • Prepares and administers HR budget. • Provides support to hourly and salaried staff by having a visible presence, extols safety promotion plans, goals, objectives, and measurements; and, fosters good staff relationships in order to gain commitment from all employees. • Investigate and resolve employee concerns/complaints/harassment. • Works closely with Health and Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with Employment Standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. • Conducts research into human resource programs/activities and recommends changes or innovation where desirable. • Recognize, support and commit to the Food Safety promise and facility Mission statement.
The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all employees. Candidates must have:
• 5 years of progressive Human Resources Experience with unionized and non-union employees; minimum two years supervisory experience. • A strong track record of change management activities. • Leadership experience in values based management. • Post secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management. • Excellent verbal/written communication; strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. • Experience with Health and Safety, Human Resource/Payroll systems such as Kronos, ADP, and HRIS; CHRP designation preferred. • Must have the ability to multi task in a fast paced environment. • Proven ability to coach, teach, and lead others. • Possess a strong business orientation. • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
