Maintenance Manager

Location: Regina, Saskatchewan

Our client is a successful and growing food processing company. The company has an immediate requirement to hire a Maintenance Manager for its Regina processing plant.

Reporting to the Plant Operations Director, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all maintenance functions for the plant. This role includes supervision of the maintenance employees, management and control of the budget and expenditures, minimizing production downtime, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and maintaining the life and condition of the equipment and the building.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and supervision to the Maintenance Team by hiring, reviewing performance and providing feedback, determining training and development needs, and providing coaching and work direction. Develop plans and measurements to ensure competencies of maintenance personnel.
2. Champion health and safety and HACCP practices. Protect the company’s employees by completing safety related work orders and enforce safety regulations.
3. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, reliability, cost and customer service. Reduce equipment failures and preserve asset value.
4. Develop business plans to resolve maintenance and production-related issues, based on business knowledge, and seek appropriate approvals to implement solution within time and budgetary constraints.
5. Manage the operations of the department by planning, scheduling and following-up on maintenance activities to facilitate optimum plant performance. Ensure that all relevant activities are conducted in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and good business standards. Problem-solve and act as the primary decision maker in department issues.
6. Supervise and ensure contractors adhere to facility procedures and achieve contractual requirements, including equipment installations, modifications and maintenance as required in a 24/7 operation.
7. Manage the department’s budget by controlling, monitoring and justifying expenditures versus plan.
8. Identify and/or provide input on appropriate changes or upgrades to technology, equipment and methodology used in the operation.
9. Assist in managing all aspects of capital projects.

Education & Experience
• A Licensed Journeyman Electrical or Millwright ticket
• Previous experience in a maintenance leadership position
• Manufacturing experience within a food processing facility and familiarity with high-speed packaging systems
• Knowledge of maintenance systems, mechanical & process engineering, electrical, instrumentation, and PLC controls
